SONIC PEACEMAKERS

Building bridges of peace by facilitating collaborations between Pakistani and American musicians.

Sonic Peacemakers aims to build bridges of peace by facilitating collaborations between Pakistani and American musicians to portray a bright side of Pakistan that few in the west know about and by giving the children of Pakistan a voice with creative outlets and humanitarian aid.

Spearheaded by guitarist/producer Lanny Cordola (Beach Boys, Macy Gray, Cypress Hill), singer/songwriter Todd Shea (Shine Humanity) and Official Sonic Peacemakers Ambassadors Matt Sorum (Guns n’ Roses, Velvet Revolver), Donovan Leitch (music business manager/promoter), Ethan Casey (Author of Alive And Well In Pakistan and Overtaken By Events: A Pakistan Road Trip), Mark LeVine (best-selling author of Heavy Metal Islam), Aaron Cohen (best-selling author of Slave Hunter) and Sarwar Mushtaq (award winning documentary filmmaker), this eclectic group of cultural innovators have united to build musical bridges between people in America and Pakistan, as well as assisting in the millennium development goals of bringing K-5 education in Pakistan — harnessing the power of imagination and technology, while ushering in a new age of song and sound that transcends differences and celebrates our shared humanity. The Sonic Peacemakers “Pakistan America Peace Through Music” project is based, among other things, on world music pioneer Manu Dibango’s declaration that musicians are “all from the same tribe” regardless of their race, nationality or religion, and Albert Ayler’s proclamation that “music is the healing force of the universe.” Lanny and Todd will travel across Pakistan in 2012, establishing Sonic Peacemakers chapters in schools, villages, and cultural centers to share the concept of “peace through music.”
